Do you believe food can be the medium to deeper, lasting Community empowerment?
Are you someone who thrives on connection, collaboration, and making a real difference in people’s lives?
UKHarvest seeks an inspiring, passionate Community Food Hub Manager to lead our Community Food Hubs across West Sussex: places where food rescue meets dignity, choice, with meaningful wrap-around support.
About the Role
Our Community Food Hubs are far more than food distribution points. They are welcoming community spaces where individuals and families can access nutritious food alongside life-changing support services delivered in partnership with a wide range of external agencies.
This role sits at the heart of that vision.
Working closely with partner organisations such as the NHS, the Police, Fire service, Citizens Advice, MIND, Age UK and other frontline services, you will help ensure that every Community Food Hub offers not only food, but connection, advice, and pathways to longer-term stability. Through this collaborative approach, our support services at CFHs have grown by over 210% in the past year, and this role will be key to building on that success.
This is a hands-on, dynamic role combining physical activity, leadership, and compassionate community engagement.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and deliver a weekly programme of Community Food Hubs across West Sussex
- Build, nurture, and expand strong relationships with wrap-around support agencies to attend and support CFHs
- Actively encourage visitors to access wider services including financial advice, housing support, wellbeing, and other essential support
- Work with the Logistics Team to select, pack, load, transport, and present rescued food
- Create a welcoming, dignified environment where people feel comfortable, respected, and supported
- Lead and inspire volunteers, ensuring best practice, safety, and inclusivity
- Capture meaningful data and insights to demonstrate impact to funders and partners
- Collaborate with the Programme Manager to develop new hub locations and agency involvement
- Contribute actively to team meetings, learning, and continuous improvement
Who We’re Looking For
You will be:
- A caring, compassionate, and values-driven individual
- A confident communicator with natural warmth and charisma
- Experienced in working with external agencies, partnerships, or community organisations
- Skilled at breaking down barriers and building trust with diverse communities
- Comfortable leading others while working collaboratively as part of a team
- Physically fit and happy to be hands-on with packing, lifting, and setting up hubs
- A confident driver with a clean licence
- Organised, numerate, and comfortable working with data and reporting systems
