Summer Chefing - In Partnership With Clarion Futures
With the UK lockdown in full effect we turned virtual to host our latest education series Summer Chefing, in partnership with Clarion Futures! Taking place on Zoom, our inhouse Nutritionist and Education Team inspired our young chefs to use their summer freedom to cook vibrant and healthy meals while learning new skills in the kitchen.
Designed specifically for young people and taking place over the summer holidays, the programme soon became a welcome regular of our social calendar. Meeting twice a week, we first revealed the upcoming week’s recipe, discussed ingredients and possible swaps, before providing a pre-filmed cook-a-long video. We also discussed nutritional benefits including everything from vitamins and minerals, to kitchen essentials such as the less common utensils and how to use them.
As Covid-19 restrictions began to ease we invited our Summer Chefs to UKHarvest HQ for a socially distanced al fresco lunch of Paella and a tour of the warehouse. It was a lovely celebration to end a great course where all our students were awarded a certificate and their very own cookbook.
All 11 children enrolled, from West Sussex, walked away fully-fledged UKHarvest Young Ambassadors! We can’t wait for the next series, so check out our events page for our full listings.
